The Vox VT20X modeling guitar combo amplifier employs sophisticated digital technology, along with a unique analog circuit, to bring you authentic tube power amp performance. ![]() That said, nothing else really sounds like a Vox, with the possible exception of certain Matchless and Morgan amps which are a lot more expensive, so if you really love the Vox tone, get the real thing and you won't regret it.Authentic Tube Tone with High-performance DSP Turn them down too quiet and they sound like ass, but the headroom is limited so cranking them too far can make them unwieldy. They need to be set at a certain volume level to sound good. ![]() If you can't find one, it's not a major job to have a new baffle fitted with a new speaker, just don't do it to a vintage one for obvious reasons! The Vox is a great amp too, but I've always found that Vox amps are a lot less forgiving to use. Fender have done several special editions of the PR with custom speakers, including ones with a Celestion Blue and one with a Cannabis Rex. The original speakers always make the amp too farty when cranked. Out of those, the Princeton is my personal favourite, but get one that's been upgraded with a 12" speaker instead of the factory 10". Either Fender Princeton Reverb or the Vox AC15 would be my amps of choice for that specification.
